A smile can be the most eye-catching feature of a face. With
dentistry's many advances, you no longer have to settle for stained,
chipped, or misshapen teeth. You now have choices that can help
you smile with confidence. Cosmetic dentistry encompasses
teeth reshaping, veneers, bonding, crowns, tooth-colored
fillings and teeth whitening. After a thorough exam in her Fort Lauderdale office, Dr. Neuls
can help you to determine which of those procedures is right
for you.
Even the most subtle change in your smile can make a dramatic
difference in the way you look and feel about yourself. Dr. Neuls
can give you the smile you have always dreamed of!
Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are thin custom-made shells designed to cover the front
side of teeth. Made of tooth-colored materials, veneers are used
to treat spaces between teeth and teeth that are chipped or worn,
permanently stained, poorly shaped or slightly crooked.
They're made by a specially trained dental technician in a
dental lab, working from a model provided by Dr. Neuls.
Tooth Whitening
Nothing freshens up your appearance and increases your confidence like a whiter,
brighter smile. Tooth whitening lightens discoloration caused by aging or consumption of staining substances such as coffee, tea, colas, tobacco, red wine, etc. During tooth formation, consumption of tetracycline, certain antibiotics or excessive fluoride may also cause tooth discoloration.
Dr. Neuls offers several options for whitening your teeth:
Zoom!: Discus Dental's Zoom! is a fast, safe and very effective in-office tooth whitening process. You may have seen the Zoom! process used on the popular television show Extreme Makeover. The complete Zoom! procedure takes less than an hour and gives an incredible average improvement of up to eight shades!
Nite White: Discus Dental's Nite White is an at-home tooth whitening
system that works while you sleep. Thin, custom-fitted bleaching trays fit comfortably over your teeth and hold the Nite White bleaching gel against them. The gel comes in several delicious flavors. In only
7 to 10 nights, you can achieve significant whitening results!
Boost: Boost is an in-office tooth whitening process that is ideal for touch-ups of a previous whitening procedure. People who continue to drink stain-causing beverages or use tobacco products after the initial whitening procedure may need touch-up treatments more frequently than those who don't.
Crowns
A crown can cover a tooth and restore it to its normal
shape and size. It can make your tooth stronger and improve its
appearance. A crown can cover and support a tooth with a large
filling when there isn't enough tooth left. It can be used to
attach a bridge, protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore
one that's already broken. A crown is a good way to cover teeth
that are discolored or badly shaped. It can also be used to cover
a dental implant.
Bonding
Bonding can improve the appearance of teeth that are chipped,
broken, cracked, stained, or have spaces between them. With bonding,
tooth-colored materials are applied, or bonded, to the tooth surface.
Enamel Shaping
Enamel shaping involves modifying teeth to improve their
appearance by removing or contouring enamel. The process, which
often is combined with bonding, usually is quick and comfortable
and the results can be seen immediately.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
Composite resins are tooth-colored, plastic materials (made of
glass and resin) that are used both as fillings and to repair
defects in the teeth. Because they are tooth-colored, it is
difficult to distinguish them from natural teeth. Composites
are often used on the front teeth where a natural appearance
is important. They can be used on the back teeth as well,
depending on the location and extent of the tooth decay.
