See Your Dentist for Teeth Whitening

DentistIf you want to brighten your smile, see your dentist for a teeth whitening treatment.  As a local dentist office, we know that this is the fastest way to see a dramatic improvement in your smile.  It is perfectly normal for people to experience yellow teeth and stains as they age.  In fact, if you are someone that loves your morning, afternoon, and evening cup of coffee, it is very likely that your teeth are yellow, regardless of how old you are.  Those that smoke, chew tobacco, use a lot of antibiotics, enjoy soy sauce, wine, and red pasta sauce, are also at an increased risk for stains and yellowing.  While normal, this is also a sign of aging, so it can make your smile look older than you actually are.  Fortunately, we have a solution that can help.

Teeth Whitening Options

There are many ways to whiten your teeth and a lot of products that you can purchase in the store.  While it may seem easy to go to the drugstore and buy some whitening strips, we recommend that you visit our office instead.  To understand why, it helps to know how teeth whitening works.

All whitening products, including those used by your dentist, contain a solution that has some level of peroxide.  The type of peroxide that is used and the chemical makeup of the solution are different for each product.  What you buy in the store will typically only remove the surface stains from your teeth.  This means that your smile will look better, but the difference will be mild.  Instead, you can visit our office for a dentist whitening treatment.  The solution used by your dentist penetrates the enamel of your teeth and starts the process of oxidization.  This is where the molecules inside of your teeth change to reflect less light, appear colorless, and give you a bright smile.  If you want dramatic results, this is the best way to achieve them.

The process, as done by our dentist office, is also far more convenient than anything you can buy in the store.  The process is incredibly simple, and you can have it completed in under an hour, even on your lunch break.  All you have to do is visit our office for a dental examination.  Once we have determined that you do not have any damage, infection, or decay that needs to be addressed, you can proceed with having your whitening procedure.  With this procedure, we will place a protective barrier on your lips and gums before applying the whitening solution and activating it with a special laser light.  The combination of the light and solution works to engage the chemicals in the solution so that your teeth can become white – faster.  This is opposed to using a home solution that could take weeks to achieve similar results.  In fact, even after weeks of whitening at home, it is unlikely that your teeth will become as bright as they can get with our in-office treatment.

Another benefit of teeth whitening in our office is that we can prevent overexposure to the whitening solution.  This is important for preventing any unnecessary sensitivity.  Our goal is for your smile to be both healthy and beautiful, so call us today to schedule your appointment.
